Roundup: Los Alamitos doesn’t back down to Australian powerhouse but falls in South Coast Classic final

Los Alamitos’ fifth-ranked girls basketball team has endured enough setbacks that it wasn’t going to back down Saturday night to Australia powerhouse Box Hill despite its youthful inexperience.

The team that has lost stars Asia Avinger (Rosary) and Cailyn Crocker (Mater Dei) to transfers stayed with undefeated Victoria state champion Box Hill for much of the first half before falling 59-43 in an emotional and physical championship game at the South Coast Classic at University.
