LOS ANGELES – Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero had not fought since being stopped in the third round by Omar Figueroa Jr. in July 2017 when he stepped into the ring against Adam Mate on Saturday night at Staples Center.
The loss to Figueroa was Guerrero’s third loss in succession, and a couple of days later he announced his retirement.
Mate, of Hungary, was no match for Guerrero. Guerrero decked Mate once near the end of the first round and twice in the second on his way to a technical-knockout victory. The end came at 2:25.
