Hyun-Jin Ryu to start series finale in Cincinnati, giving Clayton Kershaw extra rest

LOS ANGELES — Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has the option Sunday of starting Clayton Kershaw on regular rest, or Hyun-Jin Ryu on two extra days’ rest, against the Cincinnati Reds.

Roberts chose the reigning National League Player of the Week.

Ryu will get the assignment in the finale of the three-game series opposite right-hander Tanner Roark. Right-hander Walker Buehler starts Saturday against right-hander Tyler Mahle. Left-hander Rich Hill will start Friday opposite Reds right-hander Anthony DeSclafani.

For Roberts, riding the hot hand makes sense. Ryu took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Nationals on Sunday in his last start. In his [READ MORE HERE]
