Irvine High football coach Erik Terry resigns after 9 seasons

Irvine High School football coach Erik Terry, who replaced the legendary Terry Henigan and kept the Vaqueros competitive, has resigned after nine seasons, the veteran coach confirmed.

Terry, the well-regarded offensive coordinator under Henigan, said his family is planning to move to the Arroyo Grande area in San Luis Obispo County to be closer to his aging parents.

He called the move a “family life decision.”

The Vaqueros went 5-7 this past season but left a significant mark on the playoffs, defeating nine-win and Pac 4 League tri-champion Ocean View 30-14 in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 11 playoffs.
