Tough Western Conference schedule keeps Clippers — and opponents — focused

PLAYA VISTA — Not all conferences are created equal: When Detroit — one of those “East Coast teams,” as Coach Doc Rivers calls them — beat his Clippers on Saturday, it was just the Pistons’ second victory in nine games, which improved their record to 18-23 and left them just a half-game out of playoff position.

That same record in the Western Conference would be good for 14th.
