Carl’s Jr. begins selling a Beyond Burger version of its Famous Star

Carl’s Jr. is the latest fast food chain to partner with Beyond Meat, the Los Angeles-based company that makes plant-based alternatives to ground beef, sausage, and chicken strips.

Carl’s Jr.’s Beyond Famous Star went on sale at participating restaurants Tuesday, Jan. 2.

The quarter-pound burger is cooked on Carl’s Jr.’s open-flame char broiler like the chain’s other burgers. It will appeal to flexitarians, people who are trying to cut back on meat, said Jason Marker, chief executive officer of CKE Restaurants, in a news release.

CKE Restaurants is the parent company of Carl’s Jr., formerly based in Orange County, and Hardee’s Restaurants.
