The predictable failure of California’s central planners

There are moments in history when two kinds of government collide, crashing against each other in a titanic battle that ends with one of them in miserable retreat.

California is about to have one of those moments.

The two philosophies of government can be described as “individual rights” and “collectivism.” Under a government that protects individual rights, including the right to private property, people have free choices and an incentive to work, study, invest, build and create. Under a collectivist government, everything kind of belongs to everybody and the government’s job is central planning and distribution.
