Laguna Woods Village condo board pulls popular ‘yellow stake’ landscape program

LAGUNA WOODS — Laguna Woods Third Mutual board eliminated the Yellow Stake program — a free-reign option for members to plant outside of their property — during its regular meeting on Thursday, Nov. 29.

“One, there’s been no to very little management of the program, and much abuse,” Director Roy Bruninghaus said, reading the list written by the landscaping committee, urging the action. “Two, we have legal concerns about expansion into the common area, and three, we are concerned about the proliferation of water-hungry plants and the increase of watering that they require.”
