Eco Challenge Day is an opportunity to get rid of unwanted stuff without throwing it away

The county has a challenge for residents: donate and recycle this weekend to keep stuff out of landfills.

It is hosting its Eco Challenge Day on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Honda Center. Orange County residents can bring unwanted electronics, gently used clothing and household goods that will be donated to Goodwill of Orange County or properly disposed of.

Residents can also bring gently used small pet beds, blankets, pillow cases and newspapers that will help OC Animal Care and the pets in its shelter.

Paper shredding (five to six boxes) will also be offered to help prevent identity theft.
