Discovering “Delicious El Salvador,” with ingredients you can find around town

Living here in California where we are blessed with a multitude of Mexican eateries, I thought I was pretty familiar with south-of-the-border cuisine until I attended a book launch recently for “Delicious El Salvador” by Alicia Maher at Melissa’s Produce in Vernon, accompanied by a tasty lunch from the book.

“El Salvadorans form the second largest Spanish community in Southern California, the fourth largest in the country,” Maher noted. “It’s a relatively new community, 30 to 40 years in the US.
