Lowe’s Cos. on Monday, Nov. 5 said it would close 51 home improvement stores in the U.S. and Canada by the end of February 2019, including two stores in Orange County.
The retailer said the wind-down of “certain underperforming store locations” was part of its ongoing strategic reassessment. The local stores slated to close are in Aliso Viejo and Irvine.
Lowe’s said most associates at 20 U.S. stores will be offered a chance to switch to a similar role at another nearby Lowe’s. The majority of its closing stores are within 10 miles of another Lowe’s, the company said.
