Roy H pulls away late for victory in Santa Anita Sprint Championship

ARCADIA — The last time jockey Paco Lopez traveled west to ride Roy H in a Grade I stakes, things didn’t go too well. They went much better Saturday at Santa Anita.

Lopez was aboard Roy H, who won last fall’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint, in July 2017 at Del Mar when he was forced to settle for second place after being fanned six-wide into the stretch by a riderless Drefong, who had dumped Mike Smith shortly after the start of the Bing Crosby Stakes.
