Rodrigo Koxa almost didn’t brave the big waves that showed up in November at the famed Nazaré, Portugual.
He nearly died at the spot in 2014, and for a year he was afraid to return to the skyscraper-size waves.
“I had bad dreams and I stopped having the courage,” he told the World Surf League.
But late last year, when a massive swell showed up off the coast of Praia do Norte, he was towed by a watercraft into what ultimately would be declared the biggest wave ever ridden, an 80-footer that would top the previous world record set by Garrett McNamara in 2011, [READ MORE HERE]
