Overturned and burning big rig shuts down 57 Freeway in Fullerton

FULLERTON — A big rig that overturned and caught fire this morning shut down the northbound lanes and four southbound lanes of the 57 Freeway in Fullerton.

The crash was reported at 3:31 a.m. at the Imperial Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver of the rig is in critical condition, said the CHP.

Debris was in all the lanes, and fire authorities were summoned to the scene for cleanup of an oil spill, the CHP reported.

At a news conference, the CHP said the freeway lanes would remain closed until noon or 1 p.m.
