Feds seek third trial for CEO accused of providing insider-trading information to ex-Angel Star Doug DeCinces

Federal prosecutor are seeking a third trial for a former Orange County CEO accused of improperly tipping one-time Angel star Doug DeCinces to a pending business merger, helping land the ex-ballplayer a more than $1 million stock market windfall.

Less than a month after a second jury deadlocked on insider trading charges against James Mazzo, the ex-CEO of Santa Ana-based Advanced Medical Optics, federal prosecutors told U.S. District Judge Andrew J. Guilford during a hearing Tuesday at the federal courthouse in Santa Ana that they want to move forward with another trial.
