Firefighters attack brush fire in Costa Mesa park

COSTA MESA — Personnel with the Orange County Fire Authority and the Costa Mesa Fire Department on Thursday night were battling a brush fire at Talbert Regional Park.

The fire was reported before 9:45 p.m. near 19th Street and Balboa Boulevard, said OCFA Captain Larry Kurtz. The OCFA provided a helicopter and five engines to assist in the firefighting effort.

Information was not immediately available regarding whether the blaze was threatening any structures.

The County of Orange park is situated along the Santa Ana riverbed, with Costa Mesa on one side and Huntington Beach on the other.
