McCann out as Esperanza baseball coach

Larry McCann said Thursday he has been replaced as the baseball coach at Esperanza.
McCann said Esperanza’s administration at a meeting gave him a choice to resign or be fired. McCann said that he took neither option and exited the meeting.
“I guess I was fired,” McCann said.
Esperanza athletic director Matt Slevcove has not replied to an email regarding the school’s baseball coaching situation. McCann said Jimmy Valverde was promoted from frosh-soph coach to varsity coach. Valverde previously has been head coach of the varsity baseball team at Katella.
McCann said the meeting was about a player-coach interaction before Esperanza was to play
