When leadership changes in many countries, especially those of historic British Commonwealth ties, there is an automatic expectation that letters of resignation are submitted subject to the timing and will of the new leader. That is both an understanding and acknowledgment of who is in charge and who serves at the beck and call of the new leader.
The previous paragraph speaks to what honorable men and women understand and will do to assure a smooth transition to a new government. Today we live in the era of selfishness and Obama, communism and “do your own thing” liberation from rules and convention. This schizophrenic understanding of freedom and responsibility on the part of some leads them to shout loudly what they believe and when someone with a different belief system speaks about their own beliefs they are shouted down by these louts. In a world that believes that “what is good for the goose, is good for the gander” and other expressions of equality the difference between those who believe in freedom for all stands in stark contrast to those who would bully everyone into submission. If they do not like what you say, they might just beat you to a pulp with their signs that proclaim equality for all for daring to speak your mind. School yard bullies and junk yard dogs spring to mind.
As the child in the White House looks out over the wreckage of his socialist dream for America (whether it originated in his Father or just in the mind of his ghost writer) he must realize that history will judge him most assuredly on his use of power from this day until the inauguration of the 45th President of these United States. Obama’s place in history will be determined by his actions framed by his new status as the soon to be replaced Chief Executive. Will he have revenge on those who dared to cast aside his choice to continue his legacy, namely the American people. Will he ram through Executive Orders that would hog tie soon to be President Trump. Will he be like Hillary and Bill on their exit from the White House, stealing silverware and historic collectables? Will he exit with dignity and maturity that he has only shown in his speechifying and not in his actions so far? Will he realize that the magnifying glass of examination by the world’s community will result in a merciless reporting on each action that he takes? Will his legacy be about pettiness or stature, statesmanship or fecklessness?
We will soon see whether the early Obama has morphed into the leader that he always thought that he was or that the opinions expressed by many that he is the worst President in history hold true. He has 78 days to show us what he’s got.
