Hector’s on Broadway in Santa Ana

348sI wanted to really like this place, I did. The decor is nice, the waitstaff seemed nice. The salsa and Margaritas were great. The problem is probably time we got there.

We went here around seven on a weekday evening. Our plan was to have Margaritas as a celebration to having a successful day. We were seated at the bar and ordered our drinks. It was really pleasant until the mariachi band started playing.

Not that they were particularly bad, just really loud. The moral is that you don’t bring horned instruments into a smaller restaurant with brick walls. Really loud. They were good, but the music caused us to want to leave.

Will we go back? Sure. Not in the evenings. We will go for lunch when there is no band and probably really enjoy it.

Nice decor and atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, good nachos.
Music was EXTREMELY loud. The interior of the restaurant has brick walls, and when you add a band with a horns section, results are not good. We did notice that they no longer have their doors open when the bands are there. Good thing, because you could hear the band all over downtown Santa Ana.
We may return when there are no bands playing.
